Yet another day had passed. You know how things are sometimes: you spend your day toiling away at work or school and just want something interesting to happen on the way home. Yet, it seems that after each day passes, you end up just stuck in traffic or something else equally boring.

Sometimes I wish I could eat those thoughts though. Others, I guess, I sorta had came to believe that what had happened was for the better. Sometimes we just need to jump off the cliff and roll with where life takes us, right?

Right; well, that was sorta what I had to make myself believe now.

The ten hour days were starting to get to me. I was a firm believer in eating home made food. You know, then you are aware of exactly what toxins you're ingesting instead of just hoping that wherever you go has the sense to use half decent ingredients. But today, for some reason, I decided to take a different course. It was frustrating to have to come home and spend hours cooking another meal. Plus, I really didn't have anything worth cooking in my house thanks to getting a last minute shift on my so-called 'weekend' and not being able to do any shopping.

Anyways, that's enough rambling. You want to know what happened to me, don't you. That was the reason you came here in the first place. Heh.

Well, as I'd said, I was driving and dealing with an important phone call about how the phone company had billed me for minutes I didn't use. To hell if I was paying a nine-hundred-and-something dollar phone bill because of their mistake. I'd just had enough that day and really needed a break, some rest, downtime; quite an unimaginable concept to me at this point in time.

So when I saw the sign advertising "Feast of Seafood $9.98 + tax" I thought absolutely nothing of it. I mean, I didn't really have that ten dollars, but quite honestly if it was truly all-I-could-eat, I'd stuff my face and not eat anything else for the next three days. Plus, it would be nice to get a break from having to cook.

I pulled off the highway and sat in my car for a bit dealing with the rest of the phone call. In the end, the CSR got angry with me and hung up, all because the company she worked for stole my money. Well, I guess I'd have to finish that later. At least now I would get to enjoy my food.

On the inside, the restaurant didn't look like anything special. It was trashy and quite honestly didn't look like the kinda place where I would want to eat. But the food smelled good and looked somewhat fresh, so I decided 'what the hell'. Gotta leap sometimes, right?

Well, I sat down and I devoured the food. I didn't know that I liked seafood that much and quite honestly I ate so much that I didn't think I'd be capable of stumbling back to my car. But after that lonely yet delicious meal I decided it was probably a good idea to go home and spend the rest of the night relaxing on the internet or something; you know, wasting time gaming like most people my age.

The highway home wasn't exactly smooth. I'd never thought it was that bumpy or jarring before. Each bump made me feel worse. It was also becoming very obvious that I had in fact eaten way too much food for my own good. My stomach was rumbling and heaving each time my car hit a pot hole or jumped around on the road.

I decided to pull over. I didn't know it at the time, but it was probably a really good thing I pulled over at a public beach. Even though it was not sunny out, it was overcast and nobody was around.

After spending a few minutes at a trash can I had started to feel better. I sat on a driftwood log and stared out over the waves. But my relief was short lived. It was only a matter of seconds before I started to feel ill again.

But it wasn't the normal 'I'm going to hurl' ill this time. This time it felt like an allergic reaction. My skin was tingling and waves of heat were rushing through my body.

I looked over myself and pondered what I had eaten. I didn't think I'd eaten anything too strange, but who knew what was in some of those sauces.  I sure as hell didn't.

Being a stubborn guy, I didn't call 911. I didn't have any serious life-threatening allergies that I could think of, so although I was appearing to go into shock I decided that it wasn't worth the time of an emergency service. That was probably another good thing.

The tingling rippled down my body. I found myself lying in the gravelly sand, shivering, despite the fact that it was not a cold day. Part of me wanted to scream, but my body was not reacting in the way that it should. Instead, the strangest feeling was running down my spine. It almost felt like someone was pulling hard at me and trying to drag me through the sand. Yet every time I looked over and gripped at the rocks, there was nobody behind me.

But soon my hands were having trouble gripping the ground and my body was on fire. It wasn't painful fire, just an extremely intense heat washing over me, but it was so hot I was turning red. I looked over at my arms with awe. They were bright red now and looked strangely slick. My fingers were a bit swollen and the rest of my body was not faring any better. My head was rapidly reshaping and my mouth didn't want to function.

I was quite literally lying there, sitting duck as my body morphed and deformed. Thank god there was nobody else around. The pulling on my rear had gotten worse and I quickly found myself tugging at my pants to get them off. The sight I saw nearly made me black out. Things, no, limbs were worming their way out of my sides and growing at a rather rapid pace. My legs were shrinking to match these... these tentacles! They were gross! I couldn't help but reach down and grab at one, but when I felt it was connected to my body I nearly screamed.

I didn't want this many extra legs! I didn't want to be a bright red monster. I looked like something I could've eaten at the seafood restaurant. My legs all had those suction cup things on them and I felt slick and slimy. I shuddered and groaned and dragged myself to my new legs. As if running from this would help me get away. I was the monster lying before me! My balance was surprisingly good, despite being weak. The burning heat was slowly subsiding.

I don't know how I made it home. Even to this moment, weeks later I'm still in a state of disbelieving shock. I don't think it's real. I just wonder when I'm going to wake up from this dream. Needless to say, I took the next day off of work. I had some stuff I needed to sort out. And visiting the restaurant was probably not a good idea. I didn't want to be their next meal...
A random, very short transformation story for :icondantwz: I'm glad to be back to writing, even if it's short and choppy. Plus my list is now one thing less!
